This is a great little charger, for everything except 9V batteries. Where 9V batteries are concerned, this charger is dumb as it gets. It will take forever, and you risk seriously over-charging 9V batteries. But for AAA/AA/C/D batteries... NiCD or NiMH... low-self discharge or regular... it does it's job as it should, no complaints at all.

The greatest thing about it, is that it doesn't complain & refuse to charge my years-old NiMH batteries, as many other smart chargers do. It charges slower than the newer and more expensive, Tenergy V-9688, but that one rejects most of my older batteries as "bad" even though they're still in good shape and working very well. This little box does the job, and I'm very glad I got it. Both charges have held up to frequent use for the past 18 months without problems.

Both model chargers run on 12V DC, so a $3 car plug is all you need for travel use (also available from seller), which I consider a big selling point, particularly for jobs like charging flash-light batteries while camping, no to mention in case of extended grid power outages.

As for these batteries, they've worked really well for me for the past 18 months, saving me obscene amounts of money on disposable flashlight batteries. After about the 5th time you recharge them, you're saving money buying these, rather than disposable batteries. However, at this point Tenergy's Centura low-self discharge batteries are only slightly more expensive than these regular NiMH batteries, and they will hold a charge for YEARS at a time, so you can leave them on the shelf fully charged, and they'll still work when you need them. I don't buy anything but Centura rechargeable batteries anymore, and recommend you buy this charger and Centura batteries separately, rather than this set.
