About 5 years ago I purchased the predecessor to this X5 flat iron at a beauty supply store in LA. The lady working there swore by it, and it turned out I loved it. Things I loved: it's very light; the floating plates never snagged or pulled my hair; it heated up quickly and seemed to hold heat very well; swivel cord; the shape of the tip which allowed for easy curling. My hair type is curly frizzy, but only medium thickness and it's not coarse--generally straightens out okay. It wasn't a problem that it only heats up to 410, esp. since I never use it on high.

One day, after 5 years of use it refused to work. I feel like I got my $ worth, though! Loved that iron so much I was tempted to purchase the same old model I had (found a couple on amazon) but because it has been discontinued I decided to try this one. I had checked the actual X5 website, and X5 seems like a funny, small little company. But their last product was great quality, so I hope I like the new one nearly as much as the older model!
