Large Santa Cruz Shredder Gun Metal Aluminum 4 Piece Grinder + Custom Pollen Pick Bundle Review

Upon receiving the Santa Cruz Shredder grinder, I examined the machining and anodizing. This grinder was machined with extreme precision. There were no signs of metal slivers, and each tooth was finished precisely with 4 sharp cutting edges. The anodizing was very thick and even. You typically do not see anodizing to this extent on most aluminum products.
The threading is very exact and prevents cross threading.

The holes are on the medium size, but smaller than the Space Case grinder holes. This means herbs will have to be ground finer to fall through the holes. The holes are larger than comparable Sharp Stone grinders.

The screen is very fine and when examined at 200x magnification, it was almost exactly the same mesh size as Space Case grinders, but the screen on the SCS was much more taunt.

Using the grinder was a real pleasure. It is silky smooth and almost effortless to grind even when filled to capacity. The consistency of ground herb was superb. Most particles were of the same size and shape, plus this grinder kind of fluff the herb. To achieve a finer grind, turn the grinder upside down.

All in all, this is a very high end grinder, and I think Space Case (the leader in quality grinders) will have to step up to get theirs to the all around quality of the Santa Cruz Shredder. I am not knocking Space Case, but the SCS is a step above in build quality, consistent grinding. With my SC grinder, you would have to grind much longer than the SCS to achieve the same level of grind. I now own almost 20 grinders and the Santa Cruz Shredder is by far at the top of the list.

I have now retired my Space Case as my SCS is now my go to shredder (grinder)

You cannot go wrong with the Santa Cruz Shredder. Yes it is that much better than the <$40 grinders and even the Space Case and Cosmic Crusher.
